Optimising Deployment of Teaching Assistants

These guidelines help school leaders plan for the optimal deployment of teaching assistants. The guidelines provide practical, evidence-informed advice for school leaders, as well as seven key strategies for schools to consider when maximising the effectiveness of the teaching assistants at their school.


Disability Discrimination Act 1992

The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) is an Australian law that makes it unlawful to discriminate against people with disability in many areas of public life. It was introduced by the Australian Government to promote equal rights, inclusion, and access.


The NCCD

The NCCD stands for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability. 

It is an Australian process used by schools to identify and record the adjustments being provided to students with disability so they can access education on the same basis as their peers. Access resources, tools, professional learning, and more on the NCCD website.
