AUSTRALIAN TEACHER AIDE OF THE YEAR AWARDS
History of the Awards
In 2018, we launched the Australian Teacher Aide of the Year Awards to shine a national spotlight on the incredible contribution teacher aides make every day in schools.
Since 2021, we’ve celebrated excellence through both individual and team nominations, recognising the dedication, creativity, and impact of teacher aides across the country.
Each year, winners are announced on the first Thursday of September during Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week, celebrating their achievements with the school community and beyond.
New for 2026: We are thrilled to introduce the Individual Excellence Award for early career teacher aides, highlighting the exceptional talent and promise of those just beginning their journey in education.
Nomination criteria will be published on 30 April 2026

“As an SLSO, we don't always have data to show the progress and impact our jobs have each and every day. The awards you have highlight the positive effect and influence our roles can have. I truly appreciate that.” Lana, NSW
