ATAPS Professional Growth Map
The ATAPS Professional Growth Map is a visual tool that sets out the Professional Growth Expectations for each Focus Area.
To use the professional growth map in a meaningful way:
- Highlight one professional growth expectation for each focus area.
- Consider which focus areas are your strengths
- Consider which focus areas you would like to develop further
- Use this reflection to inform your goal setting and professional learning
- Discuss your goals with your line manager, mentor, or teacher to start a rich, professional conversation

Schools that would like guidance to implement the Australian Teaching Assistant Professional Standards can apply for ATAPS Membership by registering for the ATAPS Facilitator Training. This membership, designed specifically for school leaders, enables access to the ATAPS Facilitator Training, along with a range of resources to successfully implement ATAPS as part of the school’s performance and professional growth framework for teaching assistants.
