Strategies to Support Students with Intellectual Disability

The recording of this webinar is available in the Professional Development library, under Additional Needs & Disability

Students who are diagnosed with an intellectual disability often need extra assistance within the classroom so that they are able to complete a curriculum that is meaningful for them.

In this webinar, Jane Wenlock, a teacher at Kolbe Catholic College Victoria who works closely with teacher aides to develop meaningful programmes for students, will discuss:

  • the testing that is used to diagnose a student with an intellectual disability
  • how education professionals can work with students who have an intellectual disability
  • and the comorbidity that can occur with some students who have an intellectual disability.

During the webinar, participants will also be given ideas to assist in adjusting curriculum, providing life skills where required, and managing behaviour that can occur with students.
