Introducing ATAPS – A performance and professional growth framework

Australian Teacher Aide is currently piloting the Australian Teaching Assistant Professional Standards (ATAPS) with schools around Australia.
Before the Standards are published in Semester II 2024, Stella Liliendal, Director and Co-founder of ATA, will demonstrate how teaching assistants can use the ATAPS framework to: 

• Reflect on their practice
• Identify the skills needed to perform their role
• Set professional growth goals

The workshop activities are an opportunity to become familiar with the framework and get a head start on using ATAPS to support the performance and professional growth of teaching assistants prior to publication.

Longreach State School shares their successful performance and development strategy for paraprofessionals

With 200 students, Longreach State School is the biggest primary school in central outback Queensland. The five teacher aides employed at the school, who have over thirty years’ experience between them, provide support to students across all year levels in English, mathematics, and science. They also manage the library, provide IT support, maintain and update iPads, help with swimming instruction, and provide specialised support for students with disability.
