DIRECTORS' MESSAGE

Welcome to the August edition of TA Talk.

We are in party mode at ATA HQ, as this week is Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. It is an opportunity for fun and reflection, as we encourage the celebration of education support teams, and acknowledge the incredible contribution they make every day in schools. We hope the spotlight is shining brightly on TA teams across Australia, and that you will share with us some photos and video footage of the formal acknowledgements, as well as the fun and frivolities that take place. By doing so, you will be in the running to win a morning tea to the value of $150 for your TA team. All the details are on our Appreciation Week page.

Each year, Appreciation Week also marks the culmination of the Australian Teacher Aide of the Year awards program, and today we make the most anticipated announcement of the year, the 2023 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year, and the 2023 Australian Teacher Aide Team of the Year. Two weeks ago, we published the finalists and highly commended nominees, and since have been 'cooling our heels' waiting for the panellists results, and the ultimate reveal of this year's winners.

Today is the day of this much anticipated announcement, so who are the 2023 winners? You can find out here.

Congratulations and a big thank you to all who participated in this year's awards and helped us recognise, acknowledge and raise awareness of the outstanding contribution this workforce makes to the learning and wellbeing of students, schools and communities.

Warm regards

Stella and Mandy

MEET THIS YEAR'S FINALISTS

Congratulations to all those nominated in this year's awards. As one of our panellists remarked,

‘The quality of nominees is so high. I can’t imagine how I would be able to address the complex needs of learners in my classrooms without the expertise and assistance of teacher aides. The finalists sound like, and probably are, miracle workers. Each have changed the lives of students in ways that will never be fully recognised.’

To read all about these amazing professionals, including this year's highly deserving award winners, go to the Australian Teacher Aide Awards page.
