DIRECTORS' MESSAGE

Welcome to the March edition of TA Talk.

Well, here we are at the end of Term 1 already! We hope it has been a promising start, and that you and your students are kicking some big goals.

Earlier this week, we sent out an extra broadcast to our usual Thursday communications, to alert you to an upcoming webinar next Tuesday, The Landscape of Anxiety. John Mayes presented in February for us, and if you attended the live web event or have since watched the webinar recording of Introduction to Functional Behaviour Assessment, we are sure you will agree, he is worth paying attention to. There is more information about the upcoming webinar below.

The development of the Australian Standards for Paraprofessional Educators is progressing well. This afternoon, we will be updating the Industry Reference Group on the achievements of the smaller working group, in writing the career level competencies and expectations.

On a more personal note and as business owners, we don't often get a chance to reflect on the impact we have made in education since launching Australian Teacher Aide in 2015. So, on International Women's Day, we were delighted to to be acknowledged by EduGrowth as 2 of 30 women EdTech Leaders in Australia. We are thrilled to be included amongst this group of brilliant business women, all making their mark in education using new and emerging technologies to support learning. Thank you for being on this journey with us!

Our best wishes to you for a relaxing mid-semester break.

Warm regards

Stella and Mandy

STRATEGIES TO SUPPORT STUDENTS WITH ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE OR DIALECT

For many students in Australian schools, English is not their first language, and to develop proficiency in English, they require additional support.

In this webinar, Dr. Jane Wenlock, Learning Support Coordinator at Kolbe Catholic College in Victoria, discusses the difficulties English language learners face, and shares practical strategies and resources that can be used by educators when supporting the learning of these students.
